The best looks from Chanel's interstellar FW17 show

Karl Lagerfeld, head designer and creative at luxurious fashion house Chanel, is many things. However, the art of subtly is not one such trait of the white-haired mogul.

Trust the 83-year-old fashion zeitgeist to turn Paris’ Grand Palais into a space station with a fully-functioning model rocket in the centre of the catwalk.

The Chanel 2017 Winter/Fall ready to wear collection was certainly ready for lift-off.  Ground control to Major Tom, begin the lift-off sequence for the Chanel Rocket ship. Inside the spacecraft is a precious cargo of futuristic tweed tunics, metallic padded stoles, glitter studded boots with black tips and flowing overcoats.

With Lagerfeld at the helm, the space adventure was always going to be  a ride for the senses as much as it was a showcase of impeccably tailored clothes.

Our favourite stylish space cadets, officers Kendall Jenner and sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, walked across the space bridge as the crowd joined in on an intergalactic voyage.

It wouldn’t be a Chanel spectacle without a slew of fashionable inter-starlets including the likes of Cara Delvigne, Pharrell Williams, Lily-Rose Depp and Rita Ora sitting in the front row. Captain Largerfeld’s innovative interpretation of the future wowed an adoring audience at its climax when the rocket ship appeared to lift off at the end of the show.

The future looks bright and metallic for a fashion house that continues to deliver luxury wear that stands the test of time (and space).
