Get us to the Greek!

We're just going to put it out there - gyros deserve their own food group. If you share a similar sentiment when it comes to Greek fare, then prepare to whet your Aegean appetite at Parnell's newest institution - Gerome.

This new kid on the block completes the international strip that is Parnell's main street, discover the finest Greek fare in the same spot where the iconic Igacu used to be.

Gerome's interior is a celebration of grandiose open spaces, from the high beam ceilings and chic marble table tops, through to the alluring velvet booths and copper-hued light fittings, you'd be forgiven for not wanting to ever leave.

This super slick aesthetic was the brainchild of award-winning Paul Izzard, who was tasked to create a modern Greek restaurant to exceed all expectation.

Boasting a menu inspired by the New Zealand's changing seasons, Gerome proffers the freshest produce available to its hungry patrons.

Trained under the watchful eye of notorious TV chef Gordon Ramsay, head chef James Kenny brings his international gastronomic expertise to the table, delivering Greek cuisine with the full theatrics of charcoal and wood barbecue cooking.

The myriad of dishes prepared in this authentic way vary from seared kefalograviera (a type of Greek cheese), chargrilled seasonal New Zealand oysters, ribs of harissa-rubbed lamb, flame grilled Piper fish, burnt eggplant and roasted pineapple - igniting both the senses and diner's imaginations.

Paving the way for high-end Greek fare in Auckland, Gerome is one outpost we plan on becoming very familiar with.
