The new girlboss to join the Givenchy team

Kimberley Pearce Monday, March 20th, 2017

Chloe, Calvin Klein, Gucci… no this isn’t our AW17 wishlist (well, maybe), rather it’s the long list of designer fashion houses gracing Clare Waight Keller’s C.V. And there’s about to be another addition – the creative force has just been announced as Givenchy’s new artistic director, filling the role of Riccardo Tisci.

The rumour mill was sent into overdrive following her decision to leave Chloe after a six-year stint, but we no longer have to speculate.

‘The fact of having, for the first time, a woman envisioning the brand, designing for women and men, is unique for the house,’ Givenchy’s chief executive officer, Philippe Fortunato explained. ‘That by itself will give it a different angle and a different point of view from the past.’

The brand’s dark, edgy and mysterious vibe is quite the opposite to Clare’s artistic and feminine aesthetic. However, this change should be welcomed with open arms.

Considering her success at Chloe, delivering hit after hit for the brand, we have no doubt that she’ll lend her significant creative eye to Givenchy. It goes without saying we’re pretty damn excited to see how she’ll mix things up and add her own touches to the brand.

Clare’s first collection for the label will be on display in Paris this October.
