The heartbreaking new makeup trend

This makeup trend is one we're not sure we can get behind. Heartbreaking to watch and even worse things to follow: beauty bloggers are now crushing and destroying makeup palettes in the name of entertaining their beauty-obsessed viewers.

Beauty bloggers Kat and Hailey, who run the YouTube channel Beauty News, have made a series of videos that have gotten our attention for all the wrong reasons. The pair crush up eye-shadow and highlighter palettes to test whether or not we are getting as much product as we are promised on the packaging.

But all is not lost - the destroying is for a good cause and we can sleep easy knowing the beauty gurus are reusing and repressing their products.

Featuring cult favourites - Kylie Cosmetic’s Royal Peach palette and BECCA highlighters are both used in the video. Beauty News also investigates the foul smell of the Royal Peach palette and conclude that it is the glue in the packaging that is responsible for all the fan complaints.

The bloggers conclude the videos confirming whether we are indeed getting what we paid for and along the way, even discovering new makeup hacks.

Hint: crushing your Becca highlighter could give your palette stronger gold undertones that would otherwise be buried in the depths of the pan...
