Woman Crush Wednesday: Adele

Adele, an Academy, Grammy and Golden Globe award winner was born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins in North London, England.

The British songstress needs no introduction after continuing to take the music world by storm releasing three stand out albums since debuting in 2008. Sales of her records are in the upwards of 100 million making her one of the best-selling artists in the world.

To add to Adele’s long list of accolades, she was named on Time Magazine’s most influential list during 2012 and 2016 alongside Billboard naming her Artist of the Year last year.

The 28-year-old talented songbird is this week’s Woman Crush Wednesday…

1. She shares her awards
While accepting one of her five awards at the Grammy’s on Sunday night, Adele felt like Album of the Year should have gone to her fellow finalist Beyonce. She emotionally explained “My artist of my life is Beyonce and the Lemonade album, was so monumental and soul-baring. All of us artists here, we f***ing adore you.” Adele then went to break her Grammy award into two in a total Mean Girls-esque moment.

2. She’s got the #1 Carpool Karaoke
Debatably the best segment ever on a late night show, Adele sent The Late Late Show with James Cordon fans (and really anyone with an electronic device) into a spin when she appeared on the popular series. Instead of being in Cordon’s normal left-hand American SUV, the duo take on the streets of London to her tunes and even a bit of rapping Nicki Minaj! It’s had over 148 million views to date.

3. She’s amassed over 5.4 billion views
The stats don’t lie - Adele’s VEVO channel which is the official home for her music videos has amassed over 5.4 billion views with over 14 million dedicated subscribers. Her comeback single, Hello which shook the music world ranks as her most viewed music video at over 1.875 billion views - that’s a lot of eyes!

4. She’s a mother too
Outside Adele being a major musical talent (a bit of an understatement!), she’s also a dotting mum to young Angelo James Konecki alongside (rumoured) husband Simon Konecki. Adele took three years break to have some time as a parent before releasing her most recent album, 25, at the end of 2015.

5. She’s finally coming downunder
It’s true, the superstar is heading down under next month for three massive sold-out shows at Mount Smart Stadium. If this isn’t a reason to celebrate - I don’t know what is! Following her massive 107 shows with the ‘Adele Live 2016’ tour overseas, which included breaking Taylor Swift’s record of consecutive shows at Staples Centre in LA, she’s back on the road and will be soon en route to us!
