Each year the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) honour the best and brightest of the international fashion community at their annual CFDA Fashion Awards. This March, the council has announced that they will be awarding their highly prestigious Fashion Icon Award to Naomi Campbell.
The British model made her debut into the fashion industry at the young age of 15 and has made huge impacts as a model ever since. She is known for being the first black model to appear on the covers of British Vogue and French Vogue where she was only 18 at the time.
Naomi Campbell is a woman of many trades. Alongside modelling, she has also starred in music videos, ran a reality television show in the UK and founded her own charity.
In 2005 she founded Fashion for Relief, a charity that organises high-class fashion shows in efforts to fundraise for victims of worldwide natural disasters. Her other charity works include being named ambassador of Rio de Janeiro in recognition of efforts to fight poverty in Brazil and partnering with Marc Jacobs to raise money for The White Ribbon Alliance.
Last year the Fashion Icon Award was given to the late Franca Sozzani who was editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia.
In the lead up to the model's future award, we’ve decided to round up some of her best looks of all time and we can’t wait to see what she wears to receive her award at the June ceremony in Brooklyn, USA.
