Pick your warpaint for International Lipstick Day

With International Lipstick Day just around the corner, makeup enthusiasts and top beauty gurus alike are coming together to execute some beautiful lip looks this July 29th.

With product choices ranging from mattes to glosses, reds to nudes and liquids to stains, making your decision on what lip look to wear can feel a little overwhelming.

To help you make that crucial decision, here’s some of our favourite lipstick looks that can guarantee you an instagrammable pout.

1. Metallics
Metallic lips are quite possibly the best and biggest lipstick trend of 2017. With the biggest beauty brands such as M.A.C, Lime Crime and Kylie Cosmetics launching a wide variety of metallic lipsticks in a variety of finishes, colours and prices, this trend is something anyone can pull off. For an intense metallic look that feels comfortable on the lips, try m.a.c's metallic lipstick range topped with one of their iconic pigments for extra sparkle. Our favourite combinations are the Wild Nectar or Bronze Shimmer lipsticks topped with the Copper Sparkle pigment for a daring look.

2. Nudes
Although stunning, metallic lips definitely aren't for everyone. If you feel more comfortable sporting something a little more neutral, a classic nude lipstick may be the way to go and with finishes ranging from creamy to matte to glossy, Colourpop has you covered. Best of all, Colourpop's lipsticks won't break the bank; averaging at eight dollars, you'll have a lippy collection to rival even the best beauty blogger in no time. Our top pick is Magic Wand, a dainty pinkish nude with a satin finish.

Nude lipsticks are growing on me! #MagicWand by @colourpopcosmetics is a great everyday nude lippie and it is very comfortable! I'm normally a "go big or go home" kind of gal, but sometimes my bold lipsticks aren't appropriate for certain work situations or family functions. I remember a couple years ago, at a large family gathering, my mother made me wipe off my #MUFE #IntenseRouge48 because it was too vampy and bold. However, my two other sisters—standing right next to me—didn't get flack for wearing hot pink and bright purple lipsticks. They actually sided with our mother! Like, w0t m8? I'll never understand that situation, haha. It could be that I have much fuller lips compared to everyone in my family, which drew more attention to my luscious lips... Or, my sisters got super jealous at how snatched I looked that day and complained to our mother for blessing me with much fuller lips. #blessed ?? In an effort to "balance" the world for her children, Mom made me wipe off my lipstick... Where's the love, Mom?! Hahahaha! ? But you know what? Who cares what others say or think. Wear whatever fucking lipstick you want. Most people cannot see that you are wearing something far more fierce and important: confidence. So you do you, booboo! Haters gonna hate. Happy International Women's Day! #lips #lipstick #liquidlipstick #lipswatch #swatch #makeup #colourpop #nude #ultrasatin

3. Reds
Last but absolutely not least; the classic red lip. Kylie Jenner has been killing the game with her shade "Mary Jo K" from Kylie Cosmetics. This vibrant, cool toned red looks amazing on any skin tone and has been worn by the likes of Jordan Woods, Amrezy and Christina Aguilera. Kylie's iconic lip kits are also known to be super pigmented and long lasting, the two essentials for any good red lipstick, so you know you'll be looking put together all day with minimal touch ups required. This bright statement lip is a perfect way to honour International Lipstick day without stepping too far out of your comfort zone.

Whatever lip look you choose to debut this Saturday, pair it with an air of confidence that could only be rivalled by Kanye himself because after all, what we're really celebrating is the confidence and empowerment that one tiny little tube can give us.
