The art of the switch-up: Four hairstyles to take you from day to night with Dyson
Day to night, desk to dance floor, sleek to undone. With the right tools, you can transform your look in minutes. Dyson hairstylist Michael Beel shows us how with content creator Jungwon Jo.
Liquid Hair
Sleek, silky and impossibly glossy, liquid hair is all about a glass-like finish that catches the light from every angle. 90s Root Lift
When it comes to nineties-inspired volume, subtlety takes a back seat. Think lifted roots, generous body and a mane with movement. “Pair this volume with a power suit and I feel like I could take on the world!” muses Jo. Think less perfectly coiffed, more off-duty supermodel: a touch of texture, an undone finish and waves that feel as good in daylight as they do after dark. “This is my favourite look, the beachy waves,” says Beel. “We’ve gone through with the new Dyson Corrale CoolShine™ to help with the beautiful soft natural texture—the shine on it is amazing.” The result is an easy, lived-in look with soft bends and effortless movement. “I love how effortless these waves look,” explains Jo. They’re going to be perfect for summer when I want some movement in my hair but something a little different.”
90s Bouncy Blowout
Few hairstyles capture the glamour of the supermodel era quite so well. “Our final look is inspired by Cindy Crawford—a nineties big beautiful blowout,” explains Beel. He uses the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x™, specifically the Conical Co-anda2xTM curling barrel, to build body and shape, creating volume at the roots and bounce through the lengths. “I can’t believe this is all my own hair! ’90s volume and curls will always be in style in my books,” says Jo. The result is a full-bodied finish with the kind of movement that made the look iconic.
