I have a certain weakness for a beauty device. My bathroom is home to enough high-tech machinery to qualify as a small laboratory, and yet I remain easily persuaded by the promise of a little more glow and a little less evidence of a late night.
But for all my enthusiasm for at-home technology, there is one beauty ritual I still find difficult to replicate: the facial. There’s something inherently indulgent about setting aside an hour, lying back and letting someone else take care of your skin. No emails, no multitasking and 60 minutes of uninterrupted me-time. The problem, of course, is finding those 60 minutes.
It isn’t always practical to step away from the demands of everyday life. Which is what makes Shark’s latest launch so intriguing: the promise of a five-step facial in a fraction of the time, without leaving the house.
I spent 24 hours in Sydney putting the new Shark FacialPro Glow through its paces. The question was simple—could a treatment this quick really deliver that post-facial feeling when literally left to my own device?
What is the Shark FacialPro Glow?
The premise is compelling: 10 minutes, five steps and a tool that essentially takes you through the kind of facial I’d usually book when my skin needs a reboot. Read: congested pores, dullness, dehydration, puffiness and skin that’s looking a little lethargic.
Developed with dermatologists and approved by aestheticians, the FacialPro Glow brings together multiple facial treatments—including microdermabrasion, hydra-facial and hot-and-cold contrast therapy—in one at-home routine.
Treat yourself to the complete routine once a week, and use the heating and cooling options as often as you please. If you also have the Shark CryoGlow Under-Eye Cooling + LED Face Mask, begin your facial with that first for a little extra pampering.
What does the full 10-minute facial entail?
Start with InstaHeat on clean, dry skin, moving the attachment slowly over your face to warm and soften the skin while preparing it for extraction. There’s something calming about the warmth, and it sets the tone for what follows. If you have a little extra time to spare, work it down your neck and shoulders, too–bliss.
Next comes the Derm Detox AHA + BHA Exfoliating Gel, a three-minute treatment mask designed to begin the exfoliation process and loosen dead skin cells and buildup.
Then, fill the clean tank with water, attach the extraction head and choose from four interchangeable tips, each designed for different areas and levels of intensity. There’s a Wide Tip for larger areas of the face—think cheeks, jawline and forehead—and a T-Zone Tip for getting into areas such as the nose and chin. You can also adjust the intensity across three settings. Word to the wise: start with the Gentle Tip and lowest setting before deciding whether you need more—it’s powerful.
The device uses water and suction to deeply exfoliate and cleanse, lifting away dead skin cells, grime and impurities as you move it over your face. And then there’s the slightly addictive, somewhat confronting part: everything it removes collects in the ‘Gunk Tank’. There’s something oddly satisfying about seeing the evidence and, more importantly, your skin feels clean and smooth without feeling stripped.
The same system shifts from extraction to hydration. Empty the tank, fill it with the Hydro Infuse BHA Hydrator and go over the skin again, this time infusing hydration as you continue the treatment. The formula contains hyaluronic acid and a peptide complex, and afterwards, your skin feels softer and more supple—the sort of feeling you get when it’s genuinely well hydrated, rather than simply layered with product.
Finally, it’s time for cold. Switch the DePuffi attachment to InstaChill and glide it over your face. The cooling treatment is designed to help sculpt, depuff under-eyes and soothe redness.
What does the Shark FacialPro Glow come with?
Alongside the FacialPro Glow itself—available in three colourways: Spa Blue + Soft Gold, Warm Black + Dark Sage, and Lilac + Soft Gold—you get the Power Hub, DePuffi and Exfoliation attachments, plus four interchangeable tips.
The DePuffi attachment has six temperature settings across InstaHeat and InstaChill, while the device’s extraction and infusion modes have three intensity levels, so you can tailor the treatment to your skin.
Also included are the Derm Detox AHA + BHA Exfoliating Gel and Hydro Infuse BHA Hydrator, a storage case, USB-C cable, Self-Rinse Cap for cleaning the device and a cleaning brush.
Is the Shark FacialPro Glow worth it?
Ten minutes sounds almost too optimistic when you consider everything it’s doing, but somehow, it works. There’s no appointment to make, no travel time and no need to clear an entire afternoon for some much-needed maintenance.
The FacialPro Glow doesn’t replace the joy of a facialist—there’s still nothing quite like lying down for an hour and letting someone else do the work. But when your skin needs a regular reset, it feels like the upgrade your routine has been waiting for: a mini facial that delivers professional results between appointments, leaving skin feeling cleaner, looking fresher and with that unbeatable post-facial feel.
