In person, the 22-year-old singer and songwriter from Grey Lynn is exactly who she appears to be on stage, in her music videos, and of course in her raw and unfiltered Tik Toks. Known to some as Stella Rose Bennett, she is a hugely serious player in the pop world, but refreshingly doesn’t take herself too seriously. Her latest track ‘Beach Boy’ and new album ‘Lychee’ follows her globally viral track ‘Supalonely’ with just as much lyrical quirk and catchiness to confirm there’s plenty more up her sleeve. Remix spent an afternoon with the energetic young pop star (and her dog Tui) capturing her unabashed attitude and chameleon-like spirit, rocking the latest Gucci collections in such a way that is authentically ‘Benee’.
