Creator and Fashion Stylist Troi Atkins styles her current favourite sneakers for the launch of HER Path by Hype DC

For creator and fashion stylist Troi Atkins, self-expression through fashion comes naturally. With a style that lives somewhere between structure and softness, and an attitude that champions authenticity, the Tāmaki Mākaurau-based tastemaker (who, with her love of streetwear styling) was the obvious choice to celebrate the launch of HER Path by Hype DC. A campaign dedicated to spotlighting women defining their own journey through movement, style, and self-expression, HER Path Hype DC is just the first chapter of an ever-evolving series by the Australian sneaker brand.

At the centre of Hype DC HER is Salomon. Equal parts form and functionality, there is no denying the pull Salomon has had within the streetwear scene in recent years. According to Troi, what makes a sneaker perfect for her are three key features: ‘comfort, a strong shape, and the ability to elevate a look effortlessly but still feels feminine’. For her, this looks like the Salomon XT 6 in a bold new pink colourway, and the XT Whisper.

From morning workouts and coffee stops, to shoot days and showroom visits, there is never a dull day in the stylists’ life, and the Salomon styles are the perfect accessory and sidekick for her busy lifestyle. ‘I love Salomon’s authenticity and functionality. Where performance and style meet naturally.’ Bringing together technical innovation with modern design, the Salomon XT 6 and XT Whisper were made for women who move between worlds, needing something steady but chic.

For the launch of HER Path, we asked Troi to style the Salomon XT 6 and XT Whispers in a way that was authentically HER

‘I love to wear contrasting layers, textures, and muted colours to create looks that give the sneakers their moment.’

When asked about the women who have inspired her own journey, Troi expressed that it has always been ‘women who are themselves and move with intention: women who platform culture and their people, and approach fashion with authenticity, wāhine like Costume Designer and Stylist Te Ura Taripo-Hoskins and Fashion Designer Lavinia Ilolahia of Daina Hugh.’

And Troi’s advice to women on their own personal journey toward self-expression and acceptance? ‘Trust your instincts and don’t dilute yourself to be understood.’
