Four Words Launches Their Tastemaker Series with Kira Kirby
When it comes to engagement rings, the modern woman wants more than sparkle — she wants something that feels personal. Something that tells a story. That’s exactly the ethos behind Four Words’ new Tastemaker Series, a creative initiative that pairs the fine jeweller with inspiring minds from New Zealand and beyond to design something truly special.
For Four Words, it’s about collaboration in its truest form — not gifting product or ticking off influencer campaigns, but co-creating with creative thinkers who bring a new perspective. As a result, Four Words creates pieces that push boundaries, acknowledge craftsmanship, and reflect the uniqueness of the people who wear them.

The first chapter in the series introduces a collaboration with Kira Kirby, the US-based fine jewellery tastemaker known for her discerning eye and signature aesthetic in the world of delicate jewels. With her refined taste, as well as her trend-aware intention, Kira was a natural fit for Four Words’ debut partnership. Together, they set out to create an engagement ring that felt fashion-forward yet wearable — something that would turn heads for its design, not just its diamond. The centrepiece: a rare pink moval diamond, a hybrid between marquise and oval that’s as distinctive as it is elegant.

For Four Words, this collaboration was an opportunity to showcase their deep technical expertise. Moval diamonds are notoriously tricky to cut without a strong bow tie effect, which is where you see two dark areas in the centre of the stone that dull its shine. Four Words developed a modified cutting method that eliminates this. From there, Kira’s vision for “maximum sparkle” came to life — a fine pink diamond halo encircling the centre stone, and a triple micro-pavé band fading from pink to colourless diamonds. The result is a ring that's design-forward, romantic, and chic.

The piece also mirrors the direction of modern engagement jewellery: the use of interesting materials, coloured diamonds, intricate pavé work, and a wider focus on craftsmanship and storytelling. It’s jewellery that feels expressive, not formulaic — where personal taste carries as much weight as tradition.

In a world where engagement rings often feel over-commercialised, Four Words’ approach is refreshingly human. It’s about designing with intention — and like everything Four Words creates, this collaboration is rooted in the brand’s philosophy of honest expertise. Whether a client is drawn to natural or lab-grown diamonds, sapphires or moissanite, Four Words helps them make an informed decision based on what matters most to them.

To celebrate the launch, Four Words hosted an intimate event in October to unveil the Celeste ring, which is now live on their website and customisable by carat weight. The next Tastemaker collaboration — with a beloved New Zealand brand — is set to launch early next year, with new partnerships dropping quarterly.
