Versace waves goodbye to fur

We love hearing positive news coming from the fashion world and Versace’s latest announcement has us super excited for their next collection…

Donatella Versace has decided she’s ditching fur for good! The fashion queen did not go into detail of whether they will pursue the faux fur route but was adamant she is done with using animals. According to The Guardian, Versace’s creative director told The Economist’s 1843 magazine,

‘Fur, I am out of that. I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion.’

The brand isn’t the first to drop this bomb, with Armani announcing their decision in 2016, followed by big brands such as Gucci and more recently Michael Kors. The impact that this movement towards compassion-fashion could have on the industry is immense. We wonder which fashion giant will be next!

In this day and age, there are so many fantastic alternatives to using animal fur, with the same stunning results. With their winter collection on the horizon, we can only assume were in for some jaw-dropping innovation with a unique Versace edge!

Stay fabulous Donatella.
