Fit for the cover thanks to Horleys!

While my Instagram feed may have you believing I’ve been on a sojourn around Europe, I’ve actually been working around the clock shooting the cover for our upcoming Holiday Issue! And no, I can’t reveal who it is, but I can say that working with this international star has been a career highlight of mine!

In true European style, my eating habits the past few weeks have meant carbs, carbs, and more carbs. While juggling emails and Skype calls with the rest of the team at Remix HQ, my exercise and eating habits have gone out the window entirely. Needless to say, my cheese and wine diet and lack of exercise left me feeling less svelte than usual when I returned home on Saturday!

Now, I’m back on NZ soil and hitting the ground running (literally). Feeling a bit jet lagged, a quick, lunchtime workout has reinvigorated me to answer the hundreds of emails bidding for my attention. Only being back in the country for less than 48 hours has meant I haven’t had time to get organised for the week ahead, so I’m thrilled Horleys has a quick and easy, pre-mix protein shake, Protein HIT. I’m guilty of having a relentless sweet tooth so instead of reaching for a mid-afternoon mouthful of chocolate I’m tucking into a chilled Protein HIT in Chocolate Fudge flavor instead.

As the pressure builds over the next few weeks toward our print deadline, I’ll be looking to Horleys Protein HIT to keep my hunger pangs at bay. For those of you not in the magazine industry, deadline can be a stressful time, and as editor, delivering the best and most beautiful content is my sole focus.

My workout and healthy eating regime is more crucial now than ever! Summer bods are made in winter spring so I’m keeping my Horleys protein fix within arm’s reach.

Here’s to an incredible summer issue and the holiday season ahead!

As I settle back into routine, I’ll be looking to my favourite smoothie to get all cylinders firing in the mornings. I tend to hit snooze a little too often in the AM, making smoothies my perfect on-the-go breakfast while I drive into work. Often argued as the most important meal of the day, this smoothie recipe keeps my metabolism revved and gives me plenty of energy for my lunch time workout.

STEVENS BLEARY-EYED BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE

1 Tbsp organic cacao powder

1 banana

1 teaspoon honey (optional)

1 teaspoon Pic’s peanut butter

3 scoops Horleys 100% Whey High Protein Powder in Vanilla

250ml chilled milk or water

Handful ice

Blitz all ingredients in a blender until smooth and enjoy (while you dictate your to-do list into your phone on your way to work!)
