Hosting a spring soirée? Impress your guests with these Mānuka infused pears for dessert

The concept of wellness is constantly evolving. From the tools that aid us in day-to-day movements to the foods we eat, there’s no right answer, only great ideas. And as Comvita’s founders, Claude Stratford and Alan Bougen, found out, sometimes the greatest gifts to our health are those found in nature.

What began as a simple challenge—just one spoonful of Mānuka honey a day—quickly turned into a movement, as people began to feel the goodness. Today, Mānuka Moments has evolved from that humble spoonful into an invitation to elevate everyday rituals. With UMF™ Mānuka honey at the heart of it all, there’s no shortage of ways to bring this nourishing touch into your daily life, like infusing it into your favourite foods.

One recipe we can’t get past are these decadent Mānuka Honey Roasted Pears for dessert, where each pear is infused with the rich sweetness of Mānuka honey, before being roasted to tender perfection.

Ingredients

  • 4 firm but ripe pears—cut in half lengthwise and cored
  • ⅓ cup Mānuka honey
  • 50gm butter, melted
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • Fresh chopped rosemary
  • Blue cheese, soft creamy brie, prosciutto and crackers to serve

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 175° C and line an oven tray with baking paper. Arrange the pears cut side up on the tray.
  2. Combine the Mānuka honey, butter, spice, and rosemary, then mix well. Pour the glaze all over the pears.
  3. Bake for 20-30 minutes until the pears are tender and caramelised.
  4. Serve pears with blue cheese, soft creamy brie, prosciutto and crackers.

Tip: These delicious caramelised pears can also be served as a dessert with custard or ice cream, or can be chopped up and served in a warm salad with rocket leaves, goats’ cheese and crispy bacon shards.
