Meet Lottie’s: Faradays’ new restaurant partnership with Josh Emett
If, like us, you've been counting down the days to the arrival of Faradays, New Zealand's first ever luxury department store, this morning's announcement has just upped the ante. Today, Faradays announced its hospitality partnership with Michelin-selected restauranter Josh Emett and his wife and business partner, Helen Emett, to bring their newest restaurant, Lottie’s, to life as the beating heart of the store’s dining experience.
Located within the new three-storey department store on Queen Street, Lottie's draws inspiration from the great department store restaurants of London, designed to stand as a destination restaurant in its own right—one set to help reignite the CBD.
Helen Emett traces the inspiration back to her childhood, recalling afternoons spent at Selfridges in London with her grandmother. "We'd spend the day wandering through the department store before stopping for lunch. I remember it feeling so special". It's that same novelty experience that the Emett Group set out to recreate with Lottie's at Faradays.
Lottie's is designed to be enjoyed throughout the day, whether that's stopping in for breakfast, settling in for a long lunch, indulging in afternoon tea, toasting a day of shopping with a glass of champagne, or simply meeting friends for a light bite. Together, the Emett Group and Faradays have created a space that feels both special and effortless.
"We wanted to create somewhere that feels special, sophisticated but relaxed, with great food, warm hospitality, and a real sense of occasion," says Emett. "We can't wait to welcome people through the doors."
With luxurious interiors, considered details, and a menu curated by one of New Zealand's most celebrated chefs, we’ll no doubt be lining up at the door ourselves.
Faradays and Lottie’s is due to open September 2026, located at 131 Queen Street.
