Pier One might just be Sydney’s best-kept waterfront secret

If you’re planning a trip to Sydney soon, I’ve found your next home away from home. I recently stayed at the newly refreshed Pier One Sydney Harbour, and let’s just say, the vibe is next to none. After all, there is harbour view, and then there is ‘under the Sydney Harbour Bridge view’—and this location offers the latter. From bed, Pier One holds one of the greatest vantage points in the city, situated literally right under the bridge. Whether you’re soaking in the freestanding tub in the Admiral Suite or just relaxing on the balcony, you are front and centre for the best of Sydney’s waterfront.

What I love most about the rooms is the aesthetic. They’ve gone for a loft-style, warehouse feel that manages to be both industrial and incredibly cozy. You’ll see beautiful exposed heritage timber beams paired with modern, chic interiors—think deep blue velvet accents and sleek finishes. Plus, for those who can’t travel without their four-legged friends, they even offer dog-friendly rooms complete with their own beds and bowls.

And when it comes to dining? Divine. We spent our afternoons at the bar for a special summer treat: Happy Hour. You cannot beat $2 oysters while watching the sun glint off the water. The menu is a fantastic mix of fresh seafood and local favourites, perfect for a long lunch with friends. And of course, as the view suggests, location-wise, you’re in the heart of it all. It’s an easy walking distance to The Rocks and all the key Sydney landmarks. We actually spent our time doing health walks and rides around the city to soak up the atmosphere. While we were there, the hotel even had a Beach Club takeover, which really levelled up the summer energy all year round.
