Artist Sophie Prendergast is showcasing her latest works in Matakana
For Warkworth-based artist Sophie Prendergast, art right now is about creating something new from something else remembered. Her work, largely founded in sculpture, engages with the country's heritage architecture, reclaiming salvaged materials from demolished villas and bungalows across the city and reimagining our understanding of traditional weatherboard housing—and what this means for communities impacted by urban redevelopment. She will be exhibiting her works daily at Matakana's Charlies Gelato between April 15 and May 6, with an opportunity to meet the artist on Saturday, April 25 between 2pm and 4pm.

The butterfly has remained among the jeweller's most iconic and recognisable designs—perhaps for its rich symbolism and endless inspiration. After all, are butterflies not the most tangible understanding we have of renewal, optimism, and self-evolution? In Graff's eyes, as shown in the House's most recent campaign, there couldn't be a creature more beautiful or apt.
