Together, we're better
Many hands make light work—perhaps one of the most enduring proverbs on the power of collective effort. Though ancient in origin, it remains a guiding ethos for New Zealand sustainable label Kowtow and its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Supernature. Inspired by the work of Wolfgang Tillmans, the collection celebrates the beauty of the everyday, embracing the quiet power of people taking small, positive steps towards a better future—working together. Naturally, the design story explores our relationship with nature, expressed through organic fabrications, energetic colour, and a considered interplay of textures and embroidery. Together, these elements translate into a collection of knits, denim sets, and dresses—not to mention a continued expansion into menswear.

Meet the maker: Kate Hancock
What was that? Oh, just another brilliant Kiwi maker leaving her sustainable stamp on the local fashion scene. From her studio in Tāmaki Makaurau, Kate Hancock handcrafts made-to-order leather handbags using upholstery offcuts and second-hand leather pants and jackets sourced from op shops. The best part? They’re truly bespoke. Each piece is made in collaboration with the customer, with input on colour, bag style, hardware, and strap length—resulting in a one-of-a-kind design that reflects your personal style and is guaranteed to earn top spot in your handbag rotation. Her new website has just gone live, and this Saturday, you can catch these beauties IRL at her pop-up—details here.

A quarter-century after he floated into pop culture legend (and our collective grief), Wilson the volleyball has finally washed ashore—in Fiji, no less, where he's now living his best life. In a feel-good tribute that doubles as a wink to the internet’s longest-running 'what happened to Wilson?' debate, Tourism Fiji gives fans the closure they didn’t know they needed: he survived, he’s thriving, and yes, he’s playing volleyball again. The tongue-in-cheek short film also nods to Fiji’s growing role on the global screen stage—from Survivor and Love Island to The Blue Lagoon, the islands have long played host to Hollywood’s sun-drenched fantasies. Beyond the cinematic nostalgia, the campaign is a clever way to spotlight a booming local industry that now employs over 1,200 locals and contributes nearly $100 million FJD annually. Call it a happily ever after—not just for Wilson, but for the country that’s quietly rewriting the ending. You can see it for yourself here.
Tanning that works for you
Apparently, we’re saying hello to our best tan yet? Bondi Sands has just launched the Technocolor 1 Hour Express range – and it’s all about tanning that works for your skin tone. Backed by skin science to understand what different skin tones actually need, the range features four tailored formulas to deliver a glow that enhances your natural skin tone, not cover it up (no Euro summer needed here). Whether you’re a tan diehard or just testing the waters, we’re pretty excited to try this one at Remix HQ.
