The Gilmore Girls official trailer is finally here

The official NETFLIX Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life trailer has dropped, and it is everything we could have hoped for. Our favourite mother-daughter duo, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore (Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel) are back, but there is more drama than ever…

The tragic passing of Edward Hermann, who played Richard Gilmore, has been written into the script. The show encompasses a heartfelt homage to him, and an, ahem, extra large, painted homage too.

Lorelai and Luke are still together (thank goodness for that), but Lorelai has new secrets to share.

And Rory? She exploded out onto the world in the last season, following Barack Obama’s campaign trail (Gilmore Girls, you predicted everything) and ready to make the world a better place. But now she's unemployed, what's next for our favourite preppy, all-American girl?

The quickfire, witty dialogue of the show, though, which has been key to its success, remains. And better still, it’s incorporating a whole new wave of celebrity shout-outs. When Lorelai tells Rory that Star’s Hollow is debating removing the postbox (which must of course warrant a town meeting), Rory asks, ‘Where would Superman change when he comes to save our town from Ben Affleck?’ Classic.

All of the colourful Star’s Hollow characters are back – Babette, Miss Patty, Michel, and, of course, Kirk – the town clown. He seems to be crashing Friday Night Dinners – we’re not even sure if we want to know why.

The hilarious Sookie (Melissa McCarthy) is back too, despite her increasing fame in other sitcoms such as Mike and Molly and a bucket-load of films (our favourite is Bridesmaids, of course).

But the best part about the series, you ask? Why, all of Rory’s ex-boyfriends are in the mix. Will it be Dean, Jess, or the infamous Logan Huntzberger? Mark the 25th November in your calendar, people. We can only wait.
