A Remix editor visits Calvin Klein Commercial Bay for a Bra Fit session—here’s what she discovered
Between the cup, band, letters and numbers (what is a ‘C’, anyway?), wearing an ill-fitting bra has, unfortunately, become a rite of passage for women around the world. Calvin Klein is endeavouring to change that, with its new Perfectly Fit Custom Lift range promising unparalleled support, no matter your cup size. Lana Andelane went in-store to find out more.
I was probably about 14 when I wore the wrong-sized bra for the first time. From memory, I upgraded my trusty training bra to a flimsy, lace-trimmed number with less support than an air mattress, and the rest was history. From that moment onwards, my bra was either too big (gape galore) or too small (spillage central). A bra fitting in my early 20s provided some respite, but with natural weight fluctuations, I recently found myself wondering if my cup was, indeed, half empty.
That’s where my visit to Calvin Klein comes in. The brand invited Remix to its Commercial Bay boutique to try out the newly launched Perfectly Fit Custom Lift range, so in the name of investigative journalism, I headed along to see what all the fuss was about.
Spoiler alert—I’m a convert.
On a blustery Friday morning, I went in for my one-on-one Bra Fit session with a Calvin Klein in-store expert. Firstly, I was handed a bottle of water (a glass bottle, mind you) and guided through the new Perfectly Fit Custom Lift range. These are bras that are designed to support—being cute is just a bonus. The custom lift feature provides just the right amount of padding for your exact bra size, meaning every cup, no matter how big or small, gets the right support. The smoothing band, meanwhile, allows the bra to disappear beneath your clothes, while the adorable matching underwear features a soft, bonded lace trim that sits seamlessly against the skin.
Then, it was time for my fitting. For the uninitiated, a professional bra fitting involves two sets of measurements. As they have to measure around the fullest part of your bust, it’s best to wear an unlined or non-padded bra to get the most accurate results.
I was told I was between a 10C and 10D, and was given both sizes in the Perfectly Fit Custom Lift bra to try. What do you know—the 10D fit like it was made just for me. My boobs were cossetted like never before, with the cups sitting neatly against my chest—no gaps—and no side-boob-spillage to be seen. To be candid, I’m wearing the exact bra as I write this, and I haven’t once needed to adjust, pull, or wiggle it into place. I put it on this morning, and forgot about it—just like it should be.
