A Week in PUMA: How Troi Atkins Styled the Season’s Most Iconic Sneakers at NZFW
It’s been high-speed for fashion-lovers of Aotearoa this week. With back-to-back shows, quick changes, late-night after-parties, and early rises, Fashion Week is no small feat, and definitely not for the weak. But that’s show biz, right? Regardless of the fast-paced, caffeine-fueled agenda of everyone in full fashion week swing, some of Aotearoa’s leading fashion leaders continue to rock up in some of their finest fits, ready to attend and (be seen attending) a handful of curated NZFW shows.
Amid the fashion frenzy, rising stylist and content creator, Troi Atkins, was spotted styling three of PUMA’s latest drops: the reimagined H-Street, the statement-making Mostro Perforated, and the super cool-girl Speedcat Satin Ballet. Remix teamed up with Troi to bring her wearable style diary to life, showcasing her PUMA footwear on the streets of Auckland City this New Zealand Fashion Week.
Below, we break down each look from her NZFW lineup — and trust us, you’ll want to take notes.
Look 1: H-Street
The Outfit: Coach Evening Dress
The Mood: Glamour meets street style
The H-Street sneaker may have roots in early-2000s trackwear, but Troi brings PUMA’s latest archival rerelease firmly into the now. By pairing the streamlined silhouette with a sequin Coach dress, she pulls off a look that shouldn’t work — but totally does.
“I love experimenting with juxtaposition, and there’s something so fun about pairing sequins and shimmer with an everyday streetwear staple. The silver accents in both the dress and sneakers bounce off each other, bringing a sense of cohesion to an otherwise unexpected pairing. It’s equal parts fun and elevated.” – Troi Atkins
Look 2: Mostro Perforated
The Outfit: Koni Set by Chulle
The Mood: Structured, rebellious, but beautiful and feminine – a look twice moment.
The PUMA Mostro is not your typical sneaker. With a silhouette pulled from the archives and spiked outsole detailing that turns heads with every step, it’s made to disrupt the norm. Troi knew exactly how to play with this boldness, pairing it with Chulle’s flowing Koni Set to create a balance of soft yet strong.
“I wanted to create contrast by leaning into a softer, more feminine silhouette to balance out the bold, structured design of the shoe. The set has this fluidity and lightness that offsets the sneaker’s sharper lines, creating a look that feels playful but still refined.” – Troi Atkins
Look 3: Speedcat Satin Ballet
The Outfit: Oosterom dress layered over Twenty Seven Names pants + thrifted mesh skirt
The Mood: Queen of experimentation – layers + texture is a must!
In her final look, Troi taps into the balletcore-meets-motorsport vibe of the Speedcat Satin Ballet. Sleek, low-profile, and subtly feminine, these sneakers ground a richly layered outfit that mixes silhouettes and fabrics with a touch of finesse (our favourite).
“This look is all about layering and texture. I love how the contrasting fabrics — satin, mesh, and structured cotton — play against each other, while the Satin Ballet Speedcats ground the outfit with a sleek finish. It feels experimental but wearable, which is exactly what I love about this kind of styling.” – Troi Atkins
