Kate Sylvester AW18 is an electric dream come true

Drawing inspiration from a Ridley Scott’s cult classic might conjure up images of strange sci-fi ensembles and post-apocalyptic moodiness, however the Autumn/Winter ‘18 Kate Sylvester collection is anything but. The designer pays homage to the iconic ‘80s futurism of ‘Blade Runner’, with electric colour sitting alongside tough neutrals of nude and navy blue.

Aptly named ‘Electric Dreams’, the collection serves up menswear inspired shapes including a boxy leatherette bomber jacket in blue smoke and a military khaki. An oversize check trench says “borrowed from the boyfriend” cinched in at the waist with a bold d-ring belt. Silhouettes reminiscent of the 1940s add a slew of neat waists and strong shoulders to the collection, while vibrant red and chinoiserie prints nod in the direction of Blade Runner’s Eastern influence.

Suiting is going to be strong this season and collection doesn’t shy away from it. A perfectly tailored two-piece complete with a glinting gold button, makes a sharp statement and is the evening wear of our dreams. As is a silver lurex dress which could easily be at home in outer space. For luxe comfort, we’re loving the pops of velvet in green and cobalt blue, and the fur coat to wrap up in once the cooler weather arrives.

Pay homage to this neo-noir classic with bold feminine look and menswear inspired pieces worthy of your wildest Electric Dreams.
