Styling hack: How to wear winter jackets

While we’re in denial that the first day of winter is next week, we must admit we’re huge fans of all the new season fashion that’s popping up around the place.

From super luxe leather fabrications to buttery soft suedes, new season dressing comes in slick autumn shades of rust, navy, fawn and classic black.

We tapped Working Style founder Chris Dobbs for his tips on how to style a slick winter jacket to see you through those long, chilly days. No need to thank us…

Tip 1: Look out for quality
Beautiful fabrics are key to pulling together an impeccable winter ensemble. ‘Working Style’s foray into leatherwear comes off the back of our successful introduction of other leather goods, such as footwear and bags over the past decade,’ Chris says.

‘We crafted the leather range in three autumnal hues of rust, fawn and black to keep the styling clean and sophisticated,’ he explains.

Tip 2: Buy yourself a bomb-as bomber
A fully-lined, lightweight suede bomber jacket is the perfect finishing touch to any relaxed weekend ensemble. This collegial-inspired, rust brown suede bomber from Working Style is our pick when it comes to mixing longevity and style.

‘Supple lamb suede makes for the ultimate lightweight casual jacket with its flexible fit. Team it with sneakers or our light wash jeans and the weekend is yours for the taking,’ details Chris.

Tip 3: Moto jackets will always be on trend
A warmer option for when a bomber doesn’t cut the mustard, this Fawn, middleweight lamb suede moto jacket is fully lined to keep the outside, out. The take on the trend features perforated fabrication and hand-finished pick stitching along the seams add visual interest.

Take Chris’ advice, and ‘wear this with your favourite chinos or jeans… they’re fully lined with internal zip pockets. Tidy enough to wear to the office with a casual shirt underneath, these suede jackets need no molly coddling. They look even better with a bit of wear and tear.’

Tip 4: Channel your inner Marlon Brando in a biker jacket
Perfect for day or night wear, a black leather biker jacket will always be the style du jour. Consider Working Style’s midweight lamb leather jacket a sleek and sophisticated option for your winter wardrobe.

The popular style hails back to 1953, when Marlon Brando launched the biker silhouette to the fashion scene after starring in The Wild One. ‘Our version is sleek and simple, with a full lining and front zip pockets. It works well with a shirt or knitwear, and, for the daredevils amongst us, try this with a knitted tie and soft collared shirt for the office,’ Chris says.

Made in Turkey, these new season offerings from Working Style RRP at $1390 each.
