Commonplace’s Estelle Dippie shares her cool girl’s travel guide to Copenhagen for fashion week

One of our favourite muses right now who seemingly always has her finger on the pulse is Commonplace’s Estelle Dippie. Alongside running her globally-loved label, Commonplace Essentials, Estelle is the brand director behind Commonplace Distribution—where she connects beautiful brands from around the world with buyers, boutiques and fashion lovers everywhere. It makes sense then, that she knows Copenhagen like the back of her own hand, frequenting the city for fashion weeks and buying trips and design inspiration when it’s called for. And with Copenhagen Fashion Week now in full swing, she shares her travel notes with Remix—perfect for any holiday planning.

Where are some of your favourite places to eat and drink in the city?
Apollo Bar—beautiful food for a late afternoon long-lunch or wines in the courtyard. Bottega Barlie for a wholesome lunch or green juice between buying appointments. Pio Vin Bar for incredible charcuterie and a focus on small European producers and natural wines. You can also buy a bottle to take home. Pompette—a bit of a Copenhagen classic but for good reason! A nice spot to sit outside with a glass of orange wine, but I would recommend going early as it gets super busy.

Where do you like to stay?
Bella Grande or Coco Hotel are my usual go-tos. Hotel Sanders for a treat.

Copenhagen style is loved around the world. Where are the best shops?
Frama, Tekla, OpéraSPORT, Skall Studio, Jerome Vintage, Rosey Vintage (conveniently located right next to Jerome).

What's your favourite area to spend time in?
Frederiksberg for a quieter local neighbourhood feel or Frederiksstaden for incredible architecture, galleries and shopping.

We love a little bit of sightseeing. What are some of your favourite things to see and do?
Rent a canal boat ride for a new perspective on the city, especially in the summer. Designmuseum Danmark—incredible Danish design with great exhibitions. SMK—Statens Museum for Kunst—the largest art collection in Denmark. Bike ride to La Banchina and spend the day snacking, sipping and swimming. A disclaimer that the fashion week schedule hasn’t actually yet allowed me to do this, but it’s at the top of my list!

Any advice for first-timers in the city?
It’s such a compact city, it’s very easy to stay busy in Indre By (the inner city), but I would really recommend exploring some of the surrounding neighbourhoods such as Frederiksberg, or Vesterbro and the Meatpacking District. There are some amazing shops and restaurants to be found just a little further afar.

What are some lessons we could learn from the way locals live?
Quality over quantity always. Biking is the most efficient and climate-friendly way of getting from A to B.

Any favourite style tips you've picked up in the city?
Functionality as priority, especially when it comes to outerwear and footwear for winter. Looking to AW26, we’re seeing a lot of subtle embellishments: frills, fringing, lace, crochet and skirts and a lot of layering, dresses worn over trousers and jeans.
