From a Father’s Search for Answers to a Global Wellness Brand: The Story Behind Nuzest

Nearly 15 years after its founding, Nuzest is proving that trust, transparency and simple daily nutrition never go out of style.

‘We didn’t start with any grand plan in mind,’ Trevor Bolland, co-founder of Nuzest shared with me when speaking about the beloved brand’s inception. ‘The objective was simply to create a couple of high-quality products that people could trust. My personal agenda was to produce a daily multi-nutrient that I believed would benefit Monique.’

He was referring to Monique Bolland, co-founder of Nuzest and Trevor’s daughter. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at just 22 years old, it was her struggle that sparked an impetus within him to investigate the power of nutrition, and prompted a lifelong passion for health and life-balance that continues for the pair today.

Almost 15 years later, they are still committed to not only improving what is already available in the market, but also creating products that would genuinely support people’s health, not just read well on the labels.

When asked how she manages her diagnosis while heading a successful company and being a mother, Monique’s honesty is refreshing. ‘Some days are a struggle,’ she admits, ‘but I think most people feel overwhelmed these days! MS just adds another layer. For me, it comes down to listening to my body and recognising when I need to step back.’

Nutrition naturally plays a big part in keeping her day-to-day health in check, taking Good Green Vitality and Clean Lean Protein every day, blended into a breakfast smoothie. ‘It makes covering my nutritional bases simple and something I actually look forward to, rather than a chore,’ she explains.

Monique knows she is also lucky to have a lot of support, both at work and at home. ‘One of the biggest benefits of working in a family business has to be that Dad understands and makes sure I put my health before my job.’

Since the arrival of Good Green Vitality all those years ago, the proudly independent company has created a suite of products, and has spent the last year doubling down on what Nuzest has always stood for: making daily nutrition simple. ‘That philosophy guides everything we do,’ says Monique, ‘every product starts with the customer and how we can make it easier for them to nourish their body every day. It means sourcing cleaner ingredients, creating science-based formulations, and developing products that fit naturally into life.’

They are soon to launch a performance range for elite athletes, as well as expanding upon their kids’ nutrition range in collaboration with a paediatric nutritionist. ‘For us, innovation isn’t about creating more products,’ says the cofounder, ‘it’s about creating better solutions that help people build healthy habits, feel their best, and make nutrition part of their everyday life.

‘The wellness industry creates more confusion than clarity these days,’ she adds, ‘and where people used to turn to one trusted practitioner for advice on health and nutrition, now they turn to social media where there are countless brands and ‘experts’ pushing their version of the truth.

‘In a world where everyone is trying to outdo each other with the latest ingredients and newest quick fix, staying true to our roots and making nutrition easy is more important than ever.’
