Hollywood is calling… here are your top five destinations to visit

The sunny city of Los Angeles is a force to be reckoned with, home to some of the most famous haunts in the world, and the place where (American) dreams come true. Remix founder Tim Phin flew Delta Air Lines to Los Angeles to shoot our Summer ‘Paradise Found’ Edition cover star, and as he is no stranger to the city, shared a few of his favourite spots to visit while he was there. Live like a local and discover his top five destinations below.

VISIT THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN

A highlight of my most recent trip was taking a Hike up to the Hollywood Sign with the Hollywood Sign Trust to celebrate the 100 Years of the Iconic Sign. Hiking to the sign is the ultimate way to experience Los Angeles in all of its glory, and the exclusive access to the sign provides incredible views, away from the crowds, making you feel truly immersed. Although the tour I took (right up to the letters) was not open to the public, there are many tour groups that are - opt for companies such as ‘Bikes and Hikes LA’ to experience Los Angeles from up above.

TAKE AN ART TOUR

Los Angeles is home to some of the most influential artists in the world and holds the highest number of performing arts venues and museums in the entirety of the USA, so, visiting the world-famous art museums around LA is essential. The Broad and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art are must-visits on your art tour, holding pieces from household names such as Jean-Paul Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, and many more.

STAY AT LOEWS HOLLYWOOD HOTEL

When you’re city-slicking on holiday, where better to stay than right in the heart of it all? Loews Hollywood Hotel is the perfect place to situate yourself, sitting pretty in the centre of Hollywood and making discovering LA that much easier. Kid-friendly (and pet-friendly!), Loews combines the art of togetherness with the art of the City to bring the perfect place to set up camp.

DISCOVER THE NEIGHBOURHOODS

Truly living like a local means discovering all of the different neighbourhoods that Los Angeles has to offer. Well-known destinations such as Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Beverly Hills and Hollywood are there for the taking, but districts and suburbs such as Marina Del Rey, the Old Bank District of Downtown LA, Larchmont Village and more are there to discover. With an incredibly diverse range of neighbourhoods, each one with its own unique culture, there’s an endless amount to stumble upon, so book a car, an Uber, or a Los Angeles tour bus,  or just opt to walk - you’re bound to find your next favourite stomping ground.

EAT, EAT, EAT!

The urban landscape of Los Angeles is home to any and every cuisine under the sun, making it every foodie’s dream. Visit the jewel-toned destinated of Beauty & Essex for all of your New American eats, or head to the new Hollywood Vinyl District for Grandmaster Records, serving Italian food in a former, iconic recording studio - end the evening with a nightcap at Catch LA, a slick rooftop space known for celebrity sightings and incredible views of the city. With LA, there’s something for every craving.
