Everyone has summer goals, whether it be the perfect beach bod, an overseas experience, a flash new car or something in between. While budgeting is key to being able to get the things you really want, it can be tricky to keep on top of your spending. Westpac have launched an innovative new app, which is designed to help users manage their spending with ease. CashNav is a companion app to Westpac’s online banking app that allows you to track and understand where your money is going in real time, helping you to budget, save and reach your summer goals. Both guys and girls have some naughty spending habits, so resident Remixers Tim Phin and Isabelle Truman took a spin on CashNav, to see how it can help them out with reaching their top three summer goals.
GOALS FOR GUYS: TIM PHIN
GOAL 01: I’M OBSESSED WITH TRAVELLING AND LOVE GETTING OVERSEAS. MY GOAL IS TO HEAD TO THREE NEW COUNTRIES THAT I’VE NEVER BEEN TO OVER THE NEXT YEAR!
This one will require a lot of changes in my current spending habits. What I love the most about CashNav is that it pops up with real-time notifications as I spend, so I can’t just swipe my way down Ponsonby Road without a reality check.
GOAL 02: I’VE BEEN MEANING TO BUY A TESLA ELECTRIC CAR FOR AGES AND AM FINALLY GOING TO LOOK INTO IT!
I’ve wanted to get an electric car for years but haven’t prioritised it until now. There are different zones on CashNav for how well you’re sticking to your budget, green when you’re tracking well and red when you’ve overspent compared to typical. If I make a goal to stay in the green zone (and as far away from the red as I can!) I should be able to start car shopping by the end of the year!
GOAL 03: I WORK OUT PRETTY OFTEN BUT PROBABLY DON’T PUSH MYSELF AS MUCH AS I COULD. I WANT TO FIND A PERSONAL TRAINER THAT’LL ACTUALLY FORCE ME TO WORK TO MY LIMIT AND WHIP ME INTO SHAPE!
CashNav has a category screen with things such as health, eating out, groceries, shopping, home, education, entertainment, and travel, so I can see exactly what areas (and how much) I need to cut back on so I can meet my fitness goals.
