Tyler, The Creator and Converse rewrite retro
The retro revival is truly upon us, and sneaker style icon Converse has entered the discourse, backed by the indisputable voice and influence of musician and tastemaker Tyler, The Creator. Launching tomorrow are the reimagined Naut-1 and Coach Jagger. Launching today: the reimagined Naut-1 and Coach Jogger silhouettes. The Naut-1 draws from Converse’s maritime legacy, featuring a canvas upper and amber-toned herringbone tread, available in Starlight Blue and Cannoli Cream. Meanwhile, the Coach Jogger taps into vintage track aesthetics with a low-profile shape and vibrant colourways—designed to turn heads on and off the track.

Defender’s most extreme vehicle yet lands in New Zealand—with Beauden Barrett at the wheel
Defender has just introduced OCTA, its most formidable vehicle yet—a twin-turbo V8 powerhouse built to tear through New Zealand’s toughest terrain without flinching, all while keeping its signature edge of refined cool. It’s a machine that doesn’t just go off-road; it thrives there. To mark the launch, the brand enlisted Beauden Barrett—rugby legend, Taranaki local, and living proof that quiet strength often speaks the loudest. The campaign, shot across Taranaki's rugged farmland and windswept coastlines, draws a clear line between OCTA’s grit and the grounded confidence of its new ambassador. It’s less about horsepower and more about what it takes to hold your own when conditions turn brutal. OCTA doesn’t just arrive—it asserts itself. And with Barrett fronting the charge, the message is clear: performance isn’t about flash, it’s about showing up and going further, even when no one’s watching.

Viaduct Harbour’s ‘Maruata Rikoriko’ installation invites you to gather, reflect, and feast this Matariki
Earlier this week, Viaduct Harbour unveiled Maruata Rikoriko, a shimmering new installation honouring Matariki through shared kai, kōrero, and connection. Anchored by a sculptural tēpu—part artwork, part gathering space—the piece is flanked by intricately carved pou and invites the public to slow down, share food, and contemplate the sparkling waters of Te Waitematā. Designed by artists Graham Tipene and Amy Hawke of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, and brought to life with sustainable materials and cultural intent, Maruata Rikoriko is more than a moment—it’s a living expression of whakapapa, kotahitanga, and kaitiakitanga. To mark the season, Viaduct Harbour’s top eateries are also serving bespoke Matariki menus—think diamond clam pizza at Bivacco and pork belly toasties at Parasol & Swing—offering new ways to taste and treasure the Māori New Year. Come for the view, stay for the festivities.

The season says, puffer jackets for your feet
When cold winter mornings call for the warmest shoes of all, might we suggest a very puffy silhouette? It's for that reason alone that Teva's ReEmber Terrain has become a firm favourite for the season. Equal measures stylish—if you're into the gorpcore aesthetic—and practical, these shoes are best suited to cold mornings in the office, or sliding out of a dew-covered tent. We're predicting that these cosy numbers will be everywhere this season.

Equal parts gothic fever dream and comedy cabaret, Sanctuary promises a night of unholy indulgence—and just the right amount of partial nudity. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.
