Making A World Of Difference One Tee At A Time

Words by Steven Fernandez. The crew at WORLD has teamed up with Leukaemia & Blood Cancer (LBC) for this year’s Shave for a Cure campaign to create three striking limited edition t-shirts. The three t-shirts challenge wearers to ‘use their hair for good’ duringShave for a Cure Week which runs from March 17th to 24th. The three iconic hairdos are illustrated by New Zealand artist Sam Yong, who illustrated the cover of Lorde’s breakout EP. There’s a Bowie, a Frida and a Grease hairdo design to choose from. Check them out below. They retail for $40 and will be for sale in all WORLD outlet stores and on the WORLD online store from February 13th. "WORLD are honoured to have the opportunity to work with this important charity and create something that we hope people are proud of and find fun to wear, figure out who the hairdo belongs to and choose your favourite!” says WORLD’s Benny Castles. Shave for a Cure is LBC’s annual fundraising event, in which thousands of kiwis pledge to shave their heads in exchange for donations from family and friends. The funds raised through Shave are vital to fund LBC’s service supporting the six New Zealanders diagnosed with a blood cancer or related condition every day. WORLD are also designing an exclusive ‘Brave’ t-shirt which will be available in late February for the first 500 people taking part in Shave for a Cure who raise over $500. “We are simply delighted to be working with WORLD on this project. Their brilliant brand, amazing creativity and generosity have led to the creation of these wonderful tees which we hope people will just love and wear with pride,” says LBC Chief Executive Officer, Pru Etcheverry. LBC receives no Government funding. Their target for Shave for a Cure is $1.75 million to ensure they can continue to fund their services supporting patients and families living with a blood cancer leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma, or a related blood condition.   Shave for a Cure also supports research into finding a cure and better treatments for these diseases. This is an incredible cause for WORLD to get on board with and you can get involved with too.
