Lexus unveils five new concept vehicles at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show
Think of global leaders in automotive, and Japan likely floats to the top of the list. The nation is home to a vibrant and passionate car culture that celebrates innovation, originality and design. Admired around the world for its influence on the future of mobility, this fascinating culture runs through the veins of Lexus—Japan’s leading luxury car manufacturer, and creeping into New Zealand’s number one luxury car brand. Renowned for making the impossible possible, Lexus has been redefining what it means to create— and own—a luxury vehicle since 1989. It is a brand that pushes everlasting boundaries to create unique experiences for users through craftsmanship and design, ultimately transforming mobility into a lifestyle.

At the recent Japan Mobility Show (one of the world’s leading automotive events, hosted in Tokyo), Lexus unveiled five new concepts that gave guests an invaluable glimpse into the future of the brand, where luxury moves beyond the road. Under Lexus’ new brand vision, Discover, each concept embodied a refreshing 360-degree interpretation of the future of mobility—spanning land, air and sea. The iconic Lexus commitment to ever-better design and the human experience is explored across all concepts. There were next-generation sports cars and six-wheel chauffeur- driven spaces, alongside luxury catamarans. Local creator and friend of the brand, Estelle Schuler, attended the show alongside Lexus New Zealand to discover the future of Lexus first-hand, and reported her findings back to Remix.

Sanctuary
Dubbed the collection’s ‘Rolling Lounge’, Sanctuary redefines what it means to be a passenger in true luxury fashion. The bamboo blinds and Wajima lacquer detailing allow for business meetings to transform into mini boardrooms by day, and cruising with friends by night.

Duality
The concept that proves that you can have it all. Sleek and sculptural, the model combines SUV stature with the sleekness of a sports car. From dynamic lighting moods to fold-out OLED displays, Duality is beauty and brains.

Essence
Lexus’ smallest luxury statement, Essence, is for when drivers want to disappear into the city’s narrowest streets. Inspired by art and architecture, this private escape is a design aficionado’s dream.

Immersion
Wide, low, and built for the thrill, the marque’s sport concept takes drivers from city streets to track days in immersive style. Every detail of Immersion is designed to ignite the senses and amplify performance.

Escapism
The brand’s catamaran concept—yes, you read that right—continues to take the luxury marque’s sustainability pillar to the high seas. Offering superior sailing performance and passenger experience, the imaginative Escapism represents the ultimate sojourn that balances leisure and sporting pursuits with equal assurance.
