Sleepyhead KulKote Technology

Too hot or too cold? How we sleep, coupled with the room temperature or if you share a bed can all affect our body temperature at night. Women have a lower metabolic rate than men so they produce less heat and can sometimes feel colder. But every one of us is different, so choosing a bed to fit can be difficult. So, we’ve introduced a unique technology Kulkote into our mattresses that senses how you sleep, hot or cold.

Kulkote technology is similar to what’s used in spacesuits to regulate the body temperature of an astronaut. When your skin temperature reaches between 29°C and 33°C, the Kulkote technology activates. Auckland University testing found that in a simulation of someone asleep on the Kulkote mattress, the sleep surface reached 29°C and stayed at this temperature for 22 straight hours. But, on a traditional mattress without Kulkote, the sleep surface reached 35°C and stayed that way – a full six degrees hotter than the mattress using Kulkote.

Women’s Work: Celebrating female photographers

Women make up the majority of photography students in NZ universities, up to 70–80% in some courses,
however the number of women commercial photographers represented by photo agents in NZ is much lower, closer to 20%. Women’s Work is a unique exhibition celebrating the work of 21 women photographers from the Advertising and Illustrative Photographers’ Association (AIPA) running over four days from 6 March at the Ellen Melville Centre.

The 41 images from photographers including Mara Sommer, Sara Orme, Victoria Baldwin and others
embody a wide range of themes and styles. Each photographer has her own unique approach to her work,
yet together these images represent a distinctly female viewpoint. Women’s Work is an opportunity to take a break from the male perspective and experience the world through
a different lens: the female gaze.

Partnering with his mate Blake Mackenzie, the pair (then in their early twenties) hatched a plan to make health foods cool and gym supplements healthy, marketing exclusively to a millennial audience.

Since its inception in 2016, the brand has developed a cult-following of wellness warriors looking to incorporate high-quality health foods into their everyday lives. With a strong line-up of plant-based, organic, 100% natural, non-GMO products, Tropeaka aims to bank in on the health and wellness industry wave.
