The Rooftop at Westfield Newmarket is a one-stop dining destination for every taste, occasion, and night of the week

Whether it’s a casual dinner, date night, a birthday meal, or Saturday night with the girls, choosing where to go can be just as tricky as pulling together the perfect outfit. As a one-stop dining destination, however, the Westfield Newmarket Rooftop takes one decision off your plate. Lana Andelane finds out more.

It’s Thursday night, and the group chat is blowing up. Dinner is in 30 minutes, none of you can agree on where to go, and you’re frantically pawing through your closet to find an outfit that is effortless enough for a casual meal, but cute enough for cocktails afterwards.

When everything feels a little overwhelming, having one less decision on your plate can make all the difference. This is where a one-stop dining destination, à la The Rooftop at Westfield Newmarket, truly shines. The centre offers a smorgasbord of dining experiences for every taste, budget, and occasion, from flavourful Turkish cuisine to hand-pulled noodles and sweet treats galore.

The Remix team recently explored Westfield Newmarket’s diverse array of dining options, soaking up the vibes and open-air atmosphere that only a rooftop dining destination can offer. We’ve curated a selection of our favourites to help guide your next dinner plans.

White + Wong’s

Perched atop the precinct, you can’t miss White + Wong’s and its glowing neon sign. Known and loved for its bold, fresh flavours and eclectic approach to Asian-fusion cuisine, this is a great spot for group meals, post-work wines, or even a holiday function. The menu takes inspiration from the street-food stalls of China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, with dishes spanning tried-and-trusted staples and modern reinterpretations. Think Bang Bang chicken, Massaman curry, barbecue pork buns, and Peking duck, with a great selection of cocktails.

Bodrum Market

Step into Bodrum Market, and you are instantly transported to the vibrant streets of its namesake city. Nestled along Turkey’s Aegean coast, the port town is a popular resort destination that delivers ancient history with a side of coastal glamour. Bodrum Market brings a taste of this to Auckland, with authentic dishes that bridge traditional flavours and new-school favourites. Opt for Lahmajun, a street pizza with spiced lamb, or smashed avocado with dukkah, pide and Greek salsa. The mezze platter was a standout—linger over hummus, dolmades, falafel, and flatbread (the Turkish coffee and honeycomb latte also come highly recommended).

Oodles

Beloved for its big, steaming bowls of hand-stretched, freshly made, (and perfectly chewy) noodles as well as its sizzling, charcoal-grilled skewers, this is a place that, as the name suggests, serves up oodles of flavour. The bustling, lively atmosphere sets the tone for a fun night with friends or family, while the wide selection of shareable plates takes the hassle out of group dining. While renowned for its noodles, the rice dishes shouldn’t be underestimated—and neither should the portions. If you’re looking for a quick, easy, and delicious bite at a great price point, Oodles should be at the top of your list.

Island Gelato

Whether you’ve enjoyed mezze and wine with your significant other or a sprawling feast with family, all great evenings should end with something sweet—and we have the scoop on where to go. Island Gelato’s cute little shop serves a selection of uniquely mouthwatering and award-winning flavours: think salted caramel and white chocolate swirl, Pic’s peanut butter caramel, strawberry cashew cheesecake, plum and coconut pavlova, and spiced raspberry vanilla, to name but a few.

Getting to The Rooftop, located on Level 4 at Westfield Newmarket, is easy. If you’re driving along Mortimer Pass, turn right to access Level 4. Parking is also available via Morrow Street and Clovernook Road, with Westfield members enjoying up to three hours of free parking on weekdays, two hours on weekends, or free parking every day after 6pm.

No matter the occasion, The Rooftop at Westfield Newmarket takes the stress out of dining out. (Not to mention, you can follow dinner with a browse in Mecca. What could be better?)
