The five new brunch spots we're dying to try

You can't truly say you're an Aucklander if you're not booked in for at least one totally grammable brunch every weekend. Lucky for us, then, at the number of new cafe's popping up around the place on what feels like a weekly basis. We've rounded up the coolest new kids on the block so come Saturday, no one's feeling disappointed by the same old smashed avo.

1. Between Cafe and Eatery
88 Karangahape Road, Auckland CBD

Inspired by the best of eats hailing from both Paris and Vietnam, Between Cafe and Eatery had us intrigued from the get-go. The inner-city hot-spot is the brain-child of Anna Lee, the owner of much-loved CBD cafe The Shelf. Lee combined the best from East and West in a huge, vibrant space full of quirky antiques and figurines.

This weekend, get amongst an injectable Tiramisu, sassy-sweet French Toast, or Green Tiger prawns, to name a few. No brunch is complete without coffee, and we've heard Between's coffee game is quadruple-shot strong. King Isaac, a barista championship judge, offers a dedicated filter coffee bar, and apparently the best iced einspanner (a take on an iced espresso coffee) in town. We also can't wait to try out their funky-fresh house made iced teas. Between Eatery sounds like one to help us earn 'coolness cred' with our brunch squads.

2. The Collins Cafe
20 Greenhithe Road, Greenthithe, North Shore

If your brunch often turns into an eight-hour squad catch up, The Collins Cafe and Bar should be next on your list. Cosy up inside the renovated villa or dine in the outdoor courtyard with armchairs around the open fireplace (!!!).

Keep your children and fur-children happy with a dedicated kids menu and dog treats on hand, while you peruse their delicious all-day brunch menu. The Collins signature French toast (Southern-States America inspired), or the Chorizo and potato hash are just two options, and that friend who always brunches in their activewear will be excited to see the "All the good stuff" protein bowl and other healthy treats. Cabinet connoisseurs, prepare to be blown away by The Collins' resident pastry chef. And whether you prefer to brunch with mimosas, fresh juices, wine or a stellar coffee, you'll be covered on all fronts. Let us know what the weekly waffle special (the last one was a take on apple pie) is this weekend, if we don't see you there!

3. Moloko
139 Meadowbank Road, Meadowbank

We Aucklanders are now able to try a taste of Russia! Eastern suburbs newcomer Moloko (translation: Milk) is putting a Russian twist on brunch fare and the result sounds well worth the trip away from central.

The decor is wonderful - think bouquets upon bouquets of flowers and polished wooden everything. The Kiwi-Russian couple who started the cafe have us dreaming of Pancakes with ricotta and tvorog Russian cheese, and the Bolshoy big breakfast. Or we might get adventurous and try Pelmeni (Russian lamb dumplings).

We can't wait to grab a glass of kvas (Russia's answer to Kombucha) and wash down every item on Moloko's menu!

4. Cafe Mont
Unit 4, 66 Mount Eden Road, Mount Eden

Mount Eden Road is now boasting yet another gem! Cafe Mont is serving up some of the prettiest dishes in Auckland. Seriously, every meal looks like an Instagrammers fairytale. Choose from the Asian style menu or the seriously decked-out cabinet. All it takes is a house-made Raspberry Boston Crean donut to feel like a Sunday brunch time princess! The Bulgabi beef burger is another must-try, which stars whipped blue cheese foam, micro-greens, and a generous helping of kimchi.

5. Elisabeth
467 New North Road, Kingsland

Dessert aficionado? Coffee addict? Prepare to fall in love with Elisabeth.

We're so excited to have another dessert destination in town! The Kingsland strip welcomes this cosy new cafe, brewing 'messy hot chocolates' and coffee sourced from West Africa and the Dominican Republic. This dessert wonderland features a mouthwatering range of global sweet treats - get excited for the Choctastic Brownie Affogato Trifle and the Magical Bakhlava Crumble. Instagram is blowing up over this place - check them out! Looks like dates and gal pals will be blown away.

Elisabeth, pleased to meet you. We love you already.
