Meet Revolut: The app behind the Remix team's payday personalities

The Remix team has recently discovered the secret to saving for that trip wasn’t discipline — it was an app. So, we’ve teamed up with Revolut to give one lucky Remix reader the chance to win $500 to kickstart their new way to spend, save and manage. Click the link here to enter. T&Cs apply.

For years, being “good with money” felt like a personality trait. The organised friend. The spreadsheet person. The one who somehow always knew exactly how much was left in their account at any given moment. The rest of us? We were just trying our best.

Somewhere between rent, spontaneous dinners, and late-night flight bookings, managing money became yet another thing demanding attention.

But money management has had a glow-up. Revolut is part of a new generation of financial tools designed to work around your lifestyle, not against it. Whether it’s automatically sorting your income the moment it lands, helping you save without thinking, earning rewards on everyday spending or making bill-splitting infinitely less awkward, the all-in-one money app is quietly doing the heavy lifting in the background.

So we asked the Remix girls how they’re navigating payday, and which Revolut features they can’t live without. The results were surprisingly revealing.

Mon: The Spontaneous Spender

We’ve all experienced the post-payday high. You check your account, convince yourself you’re financially thriving, and suddenly every dinner, drink and online purchase feels entirely justified.

“My payday personality used to be a delusional optimist,” laughs Mon. “I’d see the number, feel rich for 48 hours and then somehow wonder where it all went.”

Revolut’s Income Sorter has changed the game. The feature automatically organises Mon’s income the moment it lands, directing money towards bills, savings and spending before she has a chance to accidentally spend her rent on a particularly good weekend.

“It’s been a game changer,” she says. “I’m heading off on a month-long trip to Vietnam soon, so clearly the savings efforts have worked.”

Portia: The Social Spender

For Portia, payday means funding her social life.

“I’m a social girl,” she says. “New restaurants, Friday night drinks, booking Airbnbs to visit friends overseas. However, as much as I’d love to treat everyone… the bill doesn’t split itself.”

The challenge isn’t making plans, it’s managing the payments that come with them—and keeping track of who owes what can quickly become a job in itself.

That’s where Revolut comes in. Its Bill Splitting feature divides expenses quickly and directly in the app, and it works across 30+ currencies—perfect for friends that are nearby and scattered across the globe.

“There’s even a little nudge button for the ones who conveniently forget,” laughs Portia. “I use it lovingly, obviously.”

Martha: The Visual Spender

For Martha, visibility is everything.

“I’m a visual person, so having budgets set for every category means I can actually see what I’ve got to spend and where it’s going.”

Revolut’s Budget feature lets her track spending in real time, set personalised limits and receive notifications when she’s getting low — a feature that has proven especially useful when fashion temptation strikes.

“It keeps me on track, because without it, I could absolutely trip and fall into Crushes and buy the lot,” she says. “That notification when you’re nearing your limit is genuinely the guardian angel I didn’t know I needed.”

Beth: The Strategic Spender

Some people have one payday. Beth has several.

“My payday personality is complicated because I have three jobs, so payday isn’t really one day,” she explains. “It’s more like a series of happy surprises across the week.”

With multiple income streams to manage, Revolut’s Pockets feature has become her financial command centre. Separate spaces for different expenses, paired with dedicated cards linked to each Pocket, mean she always knows exactly where her money is going.

“When I use my blue card for work expenses or my purple card for fun money, I know it’s coming from the right place,” she says. “Honestly, it’s the only way I stay sane.”

No matter what your payday persona looks like, Revolut is here to save the day — saving you money, time and sanity.
