This bold young Kiwi rapper is the one to watch

The waitwait is over: your soon-to-be favourite up-and-coming Kiwi rapper has debuted her first music video. Auckland based and Hamilton raised artist Vayne released her first two tracks, ‘YUCK!’ and ‘waitwait!’, to soundcloud last year, creating buzz about her upcoming projects. ‘waitwait!’ is now honoured in a visual masterpiece of dizzying colour directed by Connor Pritchard, putting Vayne as the one to watch.

Produced by Saya, the song features lyrics about her desire to make it out of New Zealand, and if it’s up to us she is on the right track. Vayne is the best local representative we could ask for in a movement of young strong women making waves in the industry. Her visual and musical choices are bold and unapologetic, telling the story of a young woman from a small but mighty country that will not take any bull.

All in all, my favourite reaction to Vayne’s success story is the commenter on the video that said they “should have followed up with that Tinder match”. Yeah, you probably should’ve.
