Last Night Production Calls For Kiwi Shorts

Takes Short Film Festival is kicking off an all new season this month at Kingsland’s Nectar Bar and it’s hungry for new kiwi flicks. The evening showcases short films from around the globe and this time round they want to add some great local films to the line up. The next offering of spectacular international short films will take place on June 28th from 7:30pm. This boutique film festival is an initiative started in London by Kiwi’s Jessica Joy Wood and Carl Dixon, and moved to Auckland in 2011Every month audiences can enjoy two hours of short and sharp flicks, each introduced by Jessica, while relaxing in comfortable couches and enjoying table service from the bar staff. The duo are seeking submissions by New Zealand short film makers – 'Kiwis really know how to make a great short, there is a great combination of grittiness and humour that I love. We screen films that stretch the audience to see the world from a different perspective. Make us laugh, cry, see something for the first time, or see something old in a new way, make us care. But really, we just want great films!' 'So many great short films sit gathering dust on a shelf or hidden away in a drawer, we want to provide a platform for these films to do what they’re supposed to – be seen!' says Carl. If you have a film you think would be perfect for Takes, contact Jess on jessica@latenight-productions.com or visit the Takes Short Film Festival’s facebook page. Takes runs every month in Kingsland’s Nectar Bar, 472 New North Road (above The Kingslander), (09) 849 5777 and tickets can be pre-purchased at www.lastnight-productions.com.
